One of my favorite quotes is:
“Don’t compare your love story to those you watch in movies. They’re written by scriptwriters, yours is written by GOD!”
This is one of those quotes that is easier said than done though, that’s for sure. Both Jordan and I have said how amazing and reliable God is once we let Him be the writer of our love stories instead of trying to pen them ourselves. Before we met, we both remember being completely content in our singleness (which, btw, is an amazing place to be). We both had realized that God’s timing is [and always will be] perfect.
We had known of each other for at least a year through our Young Adults group at Timberline Church called nine70, but it wasn’t until one Sunday at church (4/24/2011 to be exact) that we really started to talk to each other. I wanted to buy a hoody from him, so he got my number without really even trying. The next week, my friends and I had made TONS of May Day cookies to pass out to people and so naturally I brought a baggie to this cute guy I knew at church. :)
We really started to talk all the time after that weekend, as well as hang out together with other friends. On June 8th, 2011, Jordan asked me if he could take me out on an official date, so two days later (June 10th), he took me to Sonny Lubick’s Steakhouse.
We had a blast dating but we both knew there was something different about this relationship. We talked about the future and our dreams, goals and a life spent together. On February 12, 2012, while we were in Estes Park, Jordan popped the question and I said YES, of course! :) I thought it’d be fun to hear the different points of view for our engagement, so here’s my version and Jordan’s version will be coming soon.
We became husband and wife 4 months later on June 8th, 2012 (yes, 1 year from the day we started dating). Though marriage has been anything but easy, I wouldn’t trade a single day with Jordan for anything else in this world. He is my best friend, my one and only, the love of my life and so much more. He is the man God created especially for me. He is the one God knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with before I was even born. He is the “one whom my heart loves.” We chose each other to journey through life with together and we’re letting God hold the road map, though sometimes we try to take it back (but hey, we’re only human).
