Salted Caramel Brownie Truffles

My hubby loves brownies. And by loves, I mean, will devour a pan in a heartbeat, so I’ve gotta be careful when I make them.

Me on the other hand, I like my fair share of brownies, but what I really like is a nice warm brownie and some caramel froyo.

SO…I set out on a mission to make a delicious treat involving brownies and caramel in a slightly more conventional way than froyo. So I started to think, what if I put the caramel inside of the brownies somehow. And then made them bite size. And dipped in chocolate with a little sea salt sprinkled on the outside.

Thus, the Salted Caramel Brownie Truffle was born into our house!

[Healthier] Rice Krispies Treats

This week’s recipe is one of my hubby’s favorite. He LOVES Rice Krispies Treats. And by loves I mean, as soon as they are spread around the pan, he cuts one out and eats it. He doesn’t care about cooling or setting time, but instead about eating time. :)

Now the hubby is constantly asking me about making things healthier, and Rice Krispies Treats are definitely on the list. Originally, the recipe calls for butter (anywhere between a ½ stick to a full stick), but I decided to opt for coconut oil instead.

Coconut oil contains saturated fat, just like butter, but one of the differences is that the body actually processes coconut oil more effectively than butter. It contains a high amount of lauric acid, which has strong antibacterial properties. Plus, coconut oil can help manage digestive distress, regulate blood sugar, strengthen teeth and bones and strengthen your immune system. (Check out more info here.)

Well, if you aren’t convinced yet, then I guess you’ll just have to make these treats and be convinced from the taste. :) Enjoy!!

Apple Snicker Salad

First off, I would like to announce the winners of the Birthday Giveaway!! Thank you for all of those who entered. I decided to pick 3 lucky winners instead of 1 (I know, I’m a softy).

The winners are:

DeAnza, Amy & Hetal

Congrats! I have emailed each of you and look forward to making your aprons!! :)

In honor of it being my birthday month, I’ve decided that the month of August is going to be dedicated to desserts on the blog. So without further ado, let’s get this party started!

Apple Snicker Salad is no secret in our household. Anytime we are going to a gathering or picnic, or if we are having people over at our house, Apple Snicker Salad is on the menu.

My hubby and mine’s first Christmas together at his family’s house, I brought this salad to share. Everyone in attendance was hesitant to try it, until finally his dad took the plunge and he LOVED it!! I am pretty sure he ate about half the bowl.

I love how this is an extremely simple dish to make and it is ALWAYS a huge hit. If you are heading out to a gathering and want to bring something, or you just want to make a delicious, easy dessert for your household, try this one on for size.
